Well, i'm just too excited! I entered 3 paintings in the Walhalla Easter Show, (April 3-6 2015) and this one, 'Catching the Last Rays', received a "Highly Commended" prize. It's exciting because this is the first show I've ever entered in the 3 years since I started painting with pastel. I was not expecting anything, just entering my first show was a landmark achievement for me, and a goal achieved.
I can remember 3 years ago looking at other artist's work wistfully and comparing it to my own, (I know, a recipe for depression!), wondering when - or if - I would ever be good enough to enter a show.
Three years of almost daily work later, I felt that my work had reached a standard that I could display without embarrassment. But to win a prize as well for your first show, it doesn't get much better than that!
